The Weekend

Busy weekend coming up!

This morning I had a soccer game at 9 am (yikes!). It's cruel to make teenage girls wake up that early. Despite our drowsiness, we won 12-0. This was the last game before the district tournament, which is coming up next weekend. The two teams in the district final game will move on to the state tournament in Columbus, which is the weekend of the 21st.

CJ and Nick have baseball games at 1:30 and 6 today.

On Tuesday and Thursday of next week are the EOCTs, or End of Course Tests. Those are the high school final exams. Beginning this year (yah guinea pigs!), the 8th graders in advanced math and advanced science will take the tests, since we're technically taking a high school class. I've got math on Tuesday and science on Thursday. Both teachers have given us more than enough homework to review, so I will be sitting on the sidlines of Nick's and CJ's games with a calculator and pencil, glancing up every so often to check the score.

The tryout for bassline is on May 19th. I've practiced an hour each day the past two days, and if I keep that up, then I'll have a fairly good chance at making bass 2. It is going to be me and two other girls trying out for bass 2. Wish me luck!

On top of the EOCT homework, I've got a research paper due on Monday. Mine is about the reasons behind the decision to adopt internationally. I chose that topic because I think it's interesting, and it's fairly easy to research. Plus, it's unique, so the teacher won't be absolutely sick of the topic by the time she grades mine, as she undoubtedly will for some of the other topics that have been chosen, such as animal testing and the effects of media.

By now, most kids at school know that I'm a writer-nerd, so a lot of people were asking me to critique their research papers. Wielding my red pen, I showed no mercy while performing surgery on their papers. The people were appreciative, though, cause it's better that I say nicely, "Your paper need lots of work here, here, here, and here," than Ms. Greyson giving them a D.

  1. What a busy girl! How do you keep your head above water? You won a soccer game by a score of 12 to 0! Are you sure you weren't playing football? That must've made you feel good to have some of your classmates asking for you to review their papers. Gm says when you help someone else you're also learning yourself. Good luck on all your challenges.
