Consistency is a good thing, especially when the thing you're consistent with is your own thoughts.
As you may or may not know, I've been editing the first draft of my novel (whose title is still unknown). I've been doing this all with pen and paper. So yesterday, instead of going on to edit Chapter 12, I decided to begin moving my work onto the computer. I typed up the new Prologue and Chapter 1.
And now here's where the consistency theme comes in:
As I read through my first draft on the computer, I spotted places that could be better and fixed them accordingly. Then, I would glance down at my written work and realize that a long time ago, I had decided that I should fix that exact spot with those exact words I just typed. I couldn't--can't--remember marking in those corrections, which means that on two different occasions, with my mind blank and unbiased, I thought and did the exact same thing.
And so, I agree with myself.
