Taking advantage of the unexpected holiday, me and two friends went to see 500 Days of Summer. It was a really pointless movie.
I got home around 4:00, and my brother greeted me by saying "the basement's flooding." Joy.
The carpet was sopping, and every time I walked, it splashed. When we moved furniture, it created waves. A ton of junk was piled on the ping pong table, but some stuff didn't make it...like two boxes of Mom and Dad's High School yearbooks and scrapbooks. We gathered up every single towel in the house and layed them on the floor to absorb some of the wetness.
Our storage closet was about an inch deep with water...although you can't really tell by the picture.
The carpet was so soggy that when we stood on the towels, it left footprints from the water. Well, footprints is an understatement...I mean big, prominent feet.
This is a 5 gallon bucket. We had to empty it 3 times.
Mom remembered that we had a water-sucker-upper-thingy in the attic. It was ancient. When we turned it on, blue sparks flew everywhere...not good.
Towels were in the wash and drier, and we still generated a lot more towels needing to be dried.
Mom went and got a new water-sucker-upper-thingy and she also went to a Laundry Mat to get all the towels washed, so that our washing machine and drier didn't break down. That would truly be a Series of Unfortunate Events.
Oh man that stinks:(
ReplyDeleteI hope everything is dry now!
