This post is for all the Florida folks who haven't had a game-by-game update on my soccer tournament this weekend.
First game, Saturday at 8 am: This was the hardest team we played. Our offense pushed them, and they pushed back. Most of the teams just crumble. It was back and forth for the entire game. In the second half, we finally scored. We ran the time down to 30 seconds, without them scoring. One of our players kicked the ball out on the goal line and they got a corner kick. This is what annoys me. Both the line judges were looking at their timers and saying that time was out, but the head ref said "No, let them take the kick." And they scored. So, the game ended tied, 1 to 1.
Second game, Saturday at 2 pm: After the first game, we stayed at the field for 5 hours. I think I watched 5 other soccer games. It was pretty boring at times, but we found stuff to do. Our game finally started. Our opponents were the Badgers. They were soooooo aggressive! They fouled left and right, and one girl kept grabbing on to my wrist, which is a HUGE no-no. I play right defense, and once when I was taking the ball down the wing, a girl came up and was really shoving me around. Luckily, the ref called a foul, and we scored on that penalty kick! We ended up winning 3 to 0.
Third game, Sunday at 9 am: By this time, my legs and feet were really sore. But I got out there and played. Our ref was really fat, and he was very dramatic. We played pretty much the entire game on their half of the field. We won the game, 4 to 0, and two of those goals were from penalty kicks.
Since we did so well, we're playing in the championship game at 2 pm today!!!!!!!! We don't know what team we're playing yet, because there was a tied game. Those two teams are going to do a shoot-out in exactly 14 minutes from now.
This means that we are definately, 100% going to the State Championship Tournament next weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am soooooo excited!!!!!!! Both teams that make it to the game at 2 pm today are going to state tournament, but whoever wins this game gets the better seeding at state. Wish me luck!!!!!!
