That's the End of It

Wohooo! I just completed and won my fourth consecutive Nanowrimo, and I'm feeling pretty darn good right now, considering I finished two days ahead of schedule. It feels great to have completed it, especially since I fell behind over Thanksgiving break.

My word count goal for this year was 20,000. In years past, it was 10k, 15k, and 146 pages edited.

This novel that I just wrote 20k words into is a new one, independent from my first novel (whose working title is Cephas). I'm really enjoying writing it, although at first I was a little nervous that I wouldn't be able to, since I haven't written something completely new since January 2011, when I finished the rough draft of my first novel. However, all turned out well and it is so much fun to be able to write something new again. That's not to say that I'm sick of or done with my first novel--actually, it's the opposite. All I'm saying is that the change was nice. Plus, this new book is (so far) infinitely easier to write than my first one.

Current stats on my new novel.
Working title: S&S.
Word count: 20,300
Pages: 87 (typed, double-spaced)
Chapters: 11

Current (and mostly final) stats on my old novel.
Working title: Cephas
Word Count: 52,000
Pages: 200
Chapters: 30

Now that my Nanowrimo 2012 is over, I am looking forward to... 1) sleeping. 2) actually doing homework. 3) taking a healthy break from S&S. 4) laboring over my synopsis for Cephas. 5) adding my latest winner's web badge to my collection in the left collumn.

  1. Congratulations! You've become quite a writing machine. NaNoWriMo must be good training for a writer--lots of practice making the words flow. No writer's block. Maybe someday you'll make lots of money putting out several novels a year.

    Good luck!
