Snow!

The world is white.
School was cancelled!!! It's already cancelled for tomorrow, too because of the snow!

I measured 4.5 inches on our back deck. I and basically the whole neighborhood was out sledding down the hills on our street. It was sooo much fun! The little kids created some sort of mega-sled by holding on to each other's feet as they went down. I made several successful snow angels, which is something I can't remember ever doing.

The snow seemed to make everything calmer, and as a result, I got a good amount of writing done. I'm hoping to get even more done tomorrow. My goal has been to finish the first draft of my novel by Valentine's Day, but I think I may finish it sooner. My mind has been somewhat taken over by my novel, so it'll feel strange to have completed the first draft.

I'm actually looking forward to editing, which is strange because most authors talk like editing just goes on and on and on and on and is the worst thing ever. I'll probably feel that way once I've started editing. But for now, editing = finished with rough draft. Maybe that excites me so much because I can only name a few stories that I've actually finished. The last one I finished was in 2007. Since then, I've begun like 4 or 5 other stories, and maybe even gotten halfway, before abandoning the project for another one.

Because of my horrible success rate, when I started this novel, I told myself that I would finish it no matter what. And I owe a lot of my progress to Nanowrimo 2010. Before Nanowrimo, I had been working on the story for almost eleven months, and had only written 11,000 words. During Nanowrimo, I pushed ahead and more than doubled my word count.

So here it is, my statistics for my novel so far:

Word Count: 35,889
Chapters: 16
Computer Pages: 74
Approx. Book Pages: 148

By the way, I thought of a title for my novel! I'm not going to reveal it though...not yet, at least.
